Problems of Economic Growth in the EU in Times of Covid-19: Main Sources and Potential Solutions

As former Polish Minister of Finance under the first non-communist government Leszek Balcerowicz led the transition from a centrally-planned to a free-market economy. Those series of reforms became internationally known as the “Balcerowicz Plan”.
In his presentation Professor Balcerowicz explained, why the demand focused policies do not only neglect the long-term obstacles for economic growth but are also likely to damage the supply side. In conclusion Professor Balcerowicz showed on which policy measures the EU should focus to ensure long-term economic growth. He in particular took into account the economic impact of the current Corona crisis in Europe.
