Kersten Kellermann and Carsten-Henning Schlag, University of Fribourg (Switzerland) and Liechtenstein Economic Institute (KOFL) analyse the structure and dynamics of the Liechtenstein economy by using different indicators. They show that the producer sector still makes an important contribution to employment and value added in the principality of Liechtenstein. In contrast, the international public tends to see Liechtenstein as primarily a financial centre. In an international comparison, the principality displays a high per-capita economy strength. The increase in employment and in particular the growth in the number of commuters is the actual source of economic growth in Liechtenstein in the period 2000 to 2006.
